The Role Portable Conveyors Play And Their Fundamental Differences
Portable conveyors are used with dirt and similar materials in excavation and in building projects. This means they satisfy a completely different role from the other machines and installations which are normally referred to as conveyors. Portable conveyors are a specialist equipment, and as such are only useful for the one type of work. If you are in the business where you are operating with dirt or sand every day, you will find the equipment indispensable. If you are just planning a one off operation, you will want to consider either contracting the job out or hiring the equipment if you are determined to do it yourself.
Portable conveyors work by having buckets on a belt, which can hold the material needed for the job to be done. This system allows the material to be transported in any direction, even directly upwards, as the buckets are able to turn a full circle on the frame. The frame holds its position while the motor moves the buckets up to the target area. The buckets themselves stay upright as they are only held loosely. This means that the angle of incline of the frame can vary greatly without it affecting the operation of the unit.
There are very significant differences between these portable conveyors and every other type of conveyor used in industrial applications. The most obvious of these is that the portable conveyor is used virtually exclusively outdoors. There is no reason why this type of conveyor could not be used in an indoor situation if it was given enough room, and the frames are typically small enough to go through windows and other gaps in the walls.
Safety risks are obviously a factor with any conveyor which takes the material over head height. The portable conveyors used with sand and dirt are, however, intrinsically safer than the overhead conveyors used in warehouses. This is mainly because of the simple fact that there is more room outdoors, so there is far less likely to be anyone underneath the frame of a portable conveyor. The fact that the frame is very thin also makes it easy to stay out of the way.
Portable conveyors are also unique in that they can be sourced from anywhere. With a normal conveyor installation in a factory or building, there is a limit to the distance over which you can look for a supplier. You are pretty much tied down to a local company, because it is not just the material but the installers who need to travel to your site. Only if you have a large installation will the huge expense be justified. Because a portable conveyor is fundamentally a vehicle, these considerations do not apply. You can source your material anywhere and have it transported. You therefore have a wide selection of portable conveyors.
